I just have to grab and share this, for posterity's sake.

I loved the show but this is an appropriate reflexion on the way the show-makers finished the saga.

On the day that I heard Leonard Nimoy died, I feel it is fitting to record this famous Blade Runner moment, which is worthwhile in any case.

As removed from our regular lives as sci-fi tries to be, and is, the good sci-fi is nevertheless relevant to us, because it deals with the human condition. People are people in the twenty-first century, the eighteenth century or the twenty-fourth century. And people deal with largely the same issues in any of these time frames.

Today was, apparently, Nimoy's time to die. Despite his having given up smoking thirty years ago, the effects caught up with him and he died of a lung problem caused by this habit. You could say that smoking is illogical, as Spock surely would. I understand that Nimoy would have agreed.

Here in the clip below we get a wonderful and poignant treatment of mortality, life experience, regret and - perhaps - respect for life, that we should take in and cherish.

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
[laughs] Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like [coughs] tears in rain.
Time to die..."
